Murderous mannequins, an inflatable plastic chair that envelops and suffocates a hapless victim - is it any wonder I grew up warped? But chief of these deliciously sinister pleasures was The Master, played first (and best, in my opinion) by the late Roger Delgado. The master in my novella title is quite unrelated but I like to think the seeds of depravity were sown at a tender age...

Some of my work is inspired by films and television programmes which made a lasting impression on me. For example, my novella The Ensnaring of Susan contains elements inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (Susan's transformation to "April") and Carry On Screaming (the mannequin factory scene).
